Flags and Messaging

In honor of Flag Day, I thought it would be appropriate to bring up the importance and meaning behind displaying a flag. Whether it be the American Flag, Jolly Roger, or any other notable flag, they have earned a reputation for a reason. And when flying a flag, be sure to know its origins and how it can and should be interpreted.

The “An Appeal To Heaven” flag has gained a good amount of notoriety recently. And while I care not about the opinions of the uneducated, they do hold sway towards the public in general. This poises an important aspect in displaying a flag. What is the meaning that YOU hold towards it? What is the meaning the PUBLIC holds towards it?

If you are looking to stand out and make a statement, perhaps to ruffle some feathers, or perhaps to rally others in your area, then display a flag that will make people talk. After all, flags were originally used to rally forces during times of conflict and distress. So let it serve that same purpose.

But if you wish to blend in, then evaluate what the first impression of your home will be when people pass by. As I have mentioned before, the same goes for political yard signs.

I wish you all a happy Flag Day, and also a happy birthday to all my fellow brothers and sisters who have served in our 249 year old Army! #FindYourHill
