The City Rats

In alleys dim where whispers creep,
Beneath the moon, while others sleep,
A shadow darts, quick and sly,
The rat, natures own urban spy.

With scanning eyes and nimble feet,
In search of scraps, from street to street,
Through alleyways, an unseen dance,
Opportunity seized at every chance.

Persistence built through dirt and grime,
The city burning, near out of time,
The fire burns, so bold and bright,
The rat survives, another night.

There will be more to come as this year nears an end. While I value the knowledge and insight that those in more rural areas of our nation offer, I feel that it is important for me to embrace where I am…at least for the time being. And to those of you who also find themselves in the urban landscape, welcome. We are The City Rats! #FindYourHill #TheTreeThirsts
