Your Friendly Neighborhood (Fill-In-The-Blank)

As summer approaches and the weather improves, take advantage of these next few months to form bonds with those who live around you. While it is easy to get caught up in what new gear gives its user an edge, connections and relationships are still invaluable.

With Memorial Day right around the corner, you have an opportunity. Inviting your neighbors over for a BBQ that weekend will offer you two advantages. One, you will be seen as a warm and welcoming member of the community; someone who is friendly and does not cause issues. Two, you will be able to gauge where your neighbors stand on various issues.

Given that it will be Memorial Day, small political comments may be made. While in a welcoming environment, and after a few drinks, individuals will let their guard down and begin to speak more freely. This is where you can see who is a potential ally, or a potential threat. Perhaps you’ll learn that a neighbor is a veteran and shares similar values/activities as yourself. Or, perhaps you will learn to avoid a nosy neighbor who has a tendency to report any “unusual behavior”.

None of us can succeed on our own and it is imperative to know about those who reside in your area. Thankfully, you can have fun while gathering information over a beer, a burger, or a game of cornhole. #FindYourHill
